That means a busted laptop only nets you something like $3.00, instead of its actual value. Fortunately, Moving APT offers full-value insurance coverage. Commercial Moving FAQ
Commercial moving usually costs between $1,500 and $15,000. It’s a pretty major window, but it depends on a few important factors, namely the distance you’re traveling, and the physical size of your move.
Moving a small boutique across town is going to cost a lot less than moving a global HQ across the country. Commercial movers typically base your final price on miles and overall weight in pounds—although some may use volume in cubic feet. (Moving less than 100 miles and within the same state? Expect to pay a flat hourly rate, multiplied by how many movers the job takes.)
The duration of a move can fluctuate between 1 and 21 days. Like the price of your move, this is based on how much you’re moving, and how far you’re traveling. But there are other considerations to keep in mind – for example, the government only allows drivers to clock 400 miles of interstate travel per day.
Aside from rules and regulations, moving companies oftentimes bundle smaller moves together on the same truck to reduce empty space and keep your price tag lower. It’s great for efficiency, but you’ll have to deal with a few delays while they make extra dropoffs and delivers along the way. Fortunately, if you need to move fast (oftentimes the case with corporate moving), you can shell out extra for direct delivery.
The moving date for your corporate relocation is entirely up to your professional needs, but we always recommend against a move during June, July, or August. Everyone wants to move during the summer – not just businesses, but families and students, too. This means more competition for coveted time slots, and higher prices.
On the other hand, winter may be cheap, but the horrible weather can affect reliability. That only leaves you with two solid options: If you really want a smooth relocation, try to book during fall or spring (and try to avoid major holidays or long weekends).
A binding quote means your price is fixed, and can’t be changed before, during, or after your move. This is a good thing. Without a binding quote, a mover can change the price and charge you extra (although legally it can’t be by more than 10%). Fortunately, Moving APT offers binding quotes so you always know what you’ll be paying, and what you’ll be getting for the price.
There are a lot of sketchy movers out there, so always be on the lookout for their licensing, certifications, and insurance. If a moving company offers long distance moves (i.e. they transport items across state lines), they’re required to be certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
Look for an FMCSA-issued motor carrier number on your mover’s website (oftentimes just listed as an “MC number”). Don’t be afraid to call them up and ask about their licensing, too!
